I'm working at secondary computer and wanted to check the board.  Since the storage capacity of the brain in limited I couldn't remember the URL here.  No problem, I can remember www.iccf.com and there is a link to the board from there.  Not quite.  The link is to the old board and from there I got another to here.  Might it not be better to have iccf change the link to point to this board?  If someone new uses the iccf link they'll hit a board with little activity, nothing new and think its dead rather than look for a link to a new board.

Something to think about.

The old TCCMB is still open and the links to other sites including the new TCCMB are there. It makes sense to me to keep it the way it is but of course you may contact ICCF Webmaster Michael Blake with your suggestion.

Hmmm, the only link I see on the front page is to the old site (and the ICCF Forum).  I'll assume the link to this site is somewhere but I don't see it on the web link page either.    Huh?

Hi Carl:

I would imagine that ICCF would be more concerned with promoting its own forum, rather than
TCCMB, now that that one exists... Cheesy

As far as links to the new TCCMB goes, you can always just point your browser to correspondencechess.com,
which has a prominent banner leading to the new forum on it. As does the old TCCMB. One of these days I
will get around to making an easier, shorter url to the new TCCMB.

Thanks, I've bookmarked this one on my secondary computer but I'll probably travel without it someday.

There was that part of my mind that thought they were keeping the old link up as a subtle way to promote their forum.  Then again, I'm just paranoid.

I don't find a link to the ICCF Forum anywhere in TCCMB however ICCF.com links to the old TCCMB. Who is then "promoting" only his own?
After all, these links are mostly for convenience of users and not for promotion. TCCMB is a well established forum, ICCF"s has also acquired this status in a short period of time.

Hi Gino:

My comment was a "cheesy one." That's why I used the cheesy icon after I made it.
No slight was meant, or intended.

For many years, here at TCCMB, we had to DEFEND ourselves as being the ICCF forum,
because of that frigging (or farking, if you like) link at the ICCF site.

Fact is, besides being the most popular, and most well-known, forum related to
correspondence chess, for many years, we are the only truly independent one as well.
Saying this does not reflect negatively in any way on any one else, or any organization.
It is simply a fact.

I wish the ICCF forum all the best. It might interest you to know that I am a member at
the ICCF forum, and that the admin, Mickey, and I, have cleared the air as to any perceptions
of ill-feeling between the "old standard" that was TCCMB and the ICCF Forum.

In the forum business, competition is always a factor (and anyone who maintains otherwise is
either a fool, or a liar), but, when boiled down to its essentials, our attitude here at
CORRESPONDENCECHESS.COM, is, live and let live.

We will continue to do what we do, provide the services that we do, and have done for a long time,
with the long-term goal of promoting our wonderful hobby of correspondence chess.

I hope this explanation is sufficient.

John

Hi John,

Absolutely.
Actually I was responding to Carl's last posting and did not realize that my statement in a way also made reference to your posting.

Of course you don't owe me an explanation but I thank you for volunteering one.

TCCMB and the ICCF Forum will be around for a while. Most of us enjoy both fora. Nothing like being able to drink beer and vodka, at the same time or in sequence... now don't ask me which forum produces worst heartburn...

As to my post I did refer to my paranoia.  I wasn't trying to upset any carts.  As John said, there is always competion and I too am a member at the ICCF forum.  Many aspects of my current and previous jobs require me to consider the worst in everyone and sometimes that slips into outside casual conversation.  I do apologize.
